RADVISION are extending their product portfolio to provide a complete video conferencing solution consistent with their technology-leading network infrastructure and price-value advantage. The latest addition of Aethra technology along with the introduction of the VC240, a disruptive all-in-one HD desktop system jointly developed with Samsung provide significant additions to the award winning SCOPIA infrastructure and Desktop offerings. This combination will change the game in the marketplace.
RADVISION has introduced version 7 of it's Scopia Desktop conferencing software featuring:
From version 7, point to point calls are now brokered by the Scopia Desktop Server and the media flows directly between the two endpoints instead of through the MCU, resulting in reduced latency and without using MCU ports.
Emblaze-VCON announces the upcoming release of it's Visual Communications Suite - EVCS. The suite, which apparently consists of new and existing components appears to be a direct competitor for solutions like RADVISION Scopia Desktop, Polycom CMA and Tandberg Movi. With the addition of a new firewall traversal solution and a web based client, the suite is set to offer any-to-any video conferencing from a PC, much like or maybe even better than Scopia Desktop.
Few details are made public but it looks a promising solution. With a release date set for late May - early June, we will definitely keep an eye on this one.
At this year's Wainhouse summit in Berlin RADVISION demonstrated the next version of it's award winning Scopia Desktop product incorporating the H.264 Scalable Video Codec. SVC will be available in the next major release (v7) of Scopia Desktop, which also includes enhanced Point-to-Point calling and HD recording and playback.
Following Vidyo's groundbreaking work, RADVISION is the first major player to implement the SVC standard, which offers a substantial quality improvement to video conferencing over the public internet. We can only hope that it's a next step to full adoption.
